Agreeing is the coward’s way out, but Athos does not know what strength he has left within, not after today. Not when he held his wife so close that he swears he can still smell her perfume, and then watched her walk away, taking some part of him with her. Not when he now finds himself trapped in this absurd circle of hell with too few allies and no way out. He cannot risk losing more. He cannot.

He drains his glass and manages a curt nod.
