With a skeptical hum Athos allows himself to be pulled to the stair and down to the apartment below. Though he is sure that he will pass muster - the suit on its hanger had hung too finely to do any man disservice - he still does not expect more, despite the surprising interest in Aramis’ eyes and the compliments on his lips. Only when he is before the mirror in the bedroom does he begin to wonder if Aramis was, in fact, being something more than kind.

Almost absently, Athos runs a hand through his hair, and then tugs down his cuffs.”My compliments to your tailor,” he says finally, meeting Aramis’ gaze in the mirror.
